The agriculture was predominant activity in the economy of 57.3% of Brazilian municipalities, according to the survey of the gross domestic product of the municipalities of 2013, disclosed on Friday (18) by the Brazilian Institute of geography and statistics (IBGE). The data excludes the weight of the Administration activity, health and public education and social security, which are analyzed separately.
According to the Secretary of the agricultural policy Ministry of agriculture, livestock and food supply, André Nassar, the results pointed to by the IBGE show how agriculture is important as a source of income, employment and regional development for a large part of the Brazilian population. Indicate that many municipalities have their economic activities such as trade, services and industrial activities focused on agriculture.
According to the survey, the municipality of St. Desiderius (BA) led the industry in 2013. It was the largest producer of herbaceous cotton in the country. In addition, also had on irrigated agriculture the basis of its economy.
Then appears Rio Verde (GO). Smile (MT), the largest national producer of soybeans and corn, was in third position.
The GDP of Agriculture refers to the value of everything produced by primary activities (goods and services) of agriculture.
