Investments in Paranaguá Port are the biggest of the last decades

Investments made by the State Government in the Administration of Paranaguá and Antonina (APPA) are the largest in 40 years. In four years and 10 months were invested R $ 511.9 million to improve infrastructure and logistics, in order to return competitiveness to the Port of Paranaguá. In contrast, other investments amounting to approximately R $ 423 million are being tendered in the coming years, totaling R $ 934.9 million for modernization of the ports of Paraná.

“Improving infrastructure and the management of the Port of Paranaguá is part of the government’s economic development policy, which also includes incentives to attract new businesses and investment in infrastructure,” says Governor Beto Richa.

4 new shiploaders were acquired (equipment that carries with grain cargo ships), replacing equipment of the 70 Three of them are already in place and operational and the other is being assembled. The new equipment increased grain loading capacity in the export corridor by 33%.

RECORDS – a result, in June 2015, the Port of Paranaguá exported 1.92 million tons of grain in June. This volume is the highest ever in a busy month for the Export Corridor since May 2011, they were exported 1.81 million tons.

The changes in the first six months of the year was also the highest on record for the period of the complex when they were disposed of 8.48 million tons of grain by Corridor.

Another record achieved in 2015 in the Port of Paranaguá was the daily productivity. The cradle 214 of Export Corridor, over 24 hours, shipped 50,500 tons of soybeans. The shiploaders had effective production of 1206 tons per hour during the period. The previous record was 40 thousand tons.

The State Secretary for Infrastructure and Logistics, Jose Richa Son, says that for the next three years (2016-2018) Appa will invest in infrastructure projects, renovation work in berths and continuous actions of maintenance and dredging.

“We are considering our ports to cater to industry, commerce and agribusiness for decades to come,” says Richa Son.

END OF LINES – In August, the full Port of Paranaguá four consecutive years without queues of trucks to unload grain. Despite the increased flow of vehicles and export growth, the problem was eliminated.

The most critical moments, queues reached more than 100 kilometers. In March 2003, four thousand trucks were days stuck in BR-277’s edge waiting to get to the harbor screened patio. The last record of the queues is August 2011. From January to July of that year, the port received 182,000 trucks. This year, 233,000 were loaded grain cars, an increase of 28%.

The end of the queues was possible with the adoption of a series of measures, among them the Load Online system. Registered with the system load, truck drivers receive a message by cell phone with directions and permission to unload in Paranaguá. In addition to the operational measures, they invested R $ 7.49 million in improvements in screening Yard.

DREDGING – Three dredging campaigns expanded the Paranaguá channel, allowing large ships to return to dock in Paranaguá. They are also underway to improve road access to the Port.

On 6 October the governor signed a new contract for the work of maintenance dredging of access channels to Parana ports. The investment will be of R $ 156.9 million.

WORKS – The government is also making the first reform of the Port of Paranaguá pier since 1990. As a result of an investment of R $ 89 million, the reform will prepare the port to support heavier operations and allow the leveling of dredging all cots for a greater depth, providing more security for navigation and berthing of ships.

According to the CEO of Administration of Paranaguá and Antonina Ports (APPA), Luiz Henrique Dividino, reform of the pier is another of the commitments made by the Governor Beto Richa to give higher productivity and modernize the port berths.

“We will have a fully prepared for a dredging pier flush its depth. Thus, all the cribs can operate with heavier cranes and we will be able to dock ships of about 80,000 tons, “said Dividino. Today, the largest bulk carriers that reach Paranaguá carry 70,000 tons.

In the container segment, next year we will meet the largest port container ship that has docked along the Brazilian coast, ships 368 meters long by 51 wide.

In addition, the governor recently authorized an investment of $ 183 million for modernization of the cradles 201 and 202 and expansion at 100 meters from the birthplace of the pier 201 – west. This year we also acquired new scales for weighing trucks, new lighting (LED) of the port avenue, new tombadores and other components to unload cargo, the acquisition of scanners for inspection of cargo, the implementation of the APPA WEB (Paperless Port ) and the construction of Readiness Basis for Environmental Emergencies and actions aimed at environmental monitoring. All investments listed above are running.

The lighting of the entire port area reduced consumption and increased safety. R $ 21 million was invested by exchanging traditional light bulbs with LED.

ANTONINA – Antonina port was definitely reactivated with consistent handling charges. The city already stands out in the national port scenario for achieving superior handling 1.5 million tons / year, and to receive the first investment in the port area, following the law of modernization of ports.

ENVIRONMENT – In 2013 the port received its Environmental Permit operation after a period of ten years operating without license. With this, 30 environmental programs were implemented, benefiting the city, the population and the environment.

Another important initiative of Porto, in partnership with the Paranaguá Prefecture, was the launch of the Port School Program, which applies sustainability and security concepts for students of the 5th year of municipal schools. Over a thousand students have visited the port.
